Day 43 - Cerro Campanario

December 28 - Bariloche, Argentina

The day began with less rain than expected, but the clouds were thick and the wind was howling.  We visited the national park office and Club Andino Bariloche to plan out a camping adventure.  Due to rain, a few areas were not recommended – we’d be crossing rivers up to our waist.  We decided to wait a few days before camping.  We asked to stay where we were and had to move to a dorm.  Evan ran to purchase our bus tickets and I got groceries.  I made a salad for lunch and Evan another ham sammie.  We then took to the bus to do a short hike, Cerro Campanario, approximately 30 minutes out of town.  The viewpoint has a chairlift up to the too, but the cheap (and sort of fit) choose the steep walk up the top.  It was windy and still cloudy, but the views were beautiful.  We paused inside the café at the top, sharing a coffee and a milhojas cake.  We ventured back down and caught the bus back.

Already in running clothes, I went for a run around town.  For dinner, we made a veggie ratatouille for dinner, on top of a bed of brown rice with pumpkin seeds, chia and sesame added – quite delicious!  We had a recommendation for a Malbec from the man in the grocery.  I really liked the wine!  We were joined by a few others at the hostel and played a memory game until I couldn’t keep my eyes open.  Evan stayed up, playing backgammon with a guy from Morroco until the wee hours.
