Day 38- Campo de pollo

December 23  - Parque Nacional Vicente Perez Rosales, Petrohué, Chile

This is our typical location moving look... we moved from our bed and breakfast back to our favorite hostel in Puerto Varas, dropping our non-camping stuff off so we can hike and camp light!
We took a local mini bus from Puerto Varas towards Petrohue. The second to last stop is at Saltas Petrohue, which  has a stunning view of Volcan Osorno and turquoise blue water.

We even ate empanadas for lunch while enjoying one of the falls.
After the stop, we hopped back onto another bus and made it to the lake, Lago de Los Santos. There is a hike that heads towards Volcan Osorno and returns on a black sand beach. So pretty!

Below is a view of Volcan Osorno hiding in the clouds as viewed from the trail.
After the hike we "charted" a trip across the river with Gerald, our friendly conductor de bote.
Life jackets were worn by all- safety first!
On the other side of the river from the hike we found our campground. Wonderful views of Volcan Osorno as the sun started to go down.

The campsite was pretty much all dirt, there were a lot of roaming chickens in the area that have scratched all the grass away. We found a spot that had some protection from the wind because it was darn windy!
Before we tucked ourselves into the tent for a game of cribbage and reading we had a delicious meal of pasta with tomato sauce. Yummy!
