Days 112 - 114 - Costa Rica, I Love You

March 7 - 9 - Atenas, Costa Rica

The next few days, we continued catching back up with the world.  We took runs up and down the hills in the area.  The tree below was my FAVORITE!  It only blooms for a few days!  This one is on the side of the road but most are scattered along the hills, so everything is green or brown and then BAM - yellow!

Roberto and Shelly invited their friend over to make Mexican tamales.  Costa Ricans make tamales too, but they aren't as good.  It was quite the process and I tried to make notes so we could make them at home.  Unfortunately, she wouldn't give away her ONE secret ingredient.  But I think we can figure it out....

We continued to try different foods, like this below for soup, and the squash on the right I made for breakfast one day.

We went to a festival in town on the weekend.  There was a guy with a microphone "singing".  Evan was convinced he was lip sinking because the sound was like a Costa Rican Frank Sinatra.  He was really singing!  He was amazing.  Then some of the local older woman started to dance salsa and bachata.

Evan was excited about his meat on a stick.

Roberto made us meatballs and mushrooms which were delicious.  Evan again made fresh margaritas and also homemade yucca fries.   We played hearts until Evan lost...again.
