Day 15 - Good Bye, BA

November 28 -  Buenos Aires > El Calafate, Argentina

We packed up and left our stuff with our airbnb host.  We went for a walk to El Ateneo, an old theater turned into a book store.  It was lovely!  Evan had a coffee and read his book, while I explored the balconies and bookshelves.

We then headed on a long walk to try out a pizza by the slice place that we had been meaning to try.  The restaurant is one of the oldest in BA, Pizzería Güerrin, a cash-only institution.  When we arrived, the atmosphere was chaotic, staff shouting orders to each other, diners standing along the many high counter tops, scarfing their oozing pieces of deliciousness, and an unintelligible line working towards the single cash register.  We took our place and ordered a few slices, waiting as they warmed them in the large pizza oven.  Evan had the special -  it was delicious.  I made a mistake of ordered veggie - it was like mashed potatoes on a pizza, which wasn't as good as it sounds, but still tasty.

We then high-tailed it back to grab our stuff, and get on our way to the airport.  We flew out out of the local airport which is much closer and smaller than the large international airport.  We arrived in plenty of time to catch our flight and have a beer with our friend Scott who had just arrived from the US.  The flight was approximately 3 hours.  We landed and picked up the bags and rental car, and were on our way to El Chalten, a town approx 2 - 3 hours from El Calafate.

We arrived in El Chalten at 9 PM ish, checked into our hostel, Hostel Viajeros, which was a decent accomodation - we had a four person room for the three of us, a bunk bed and two single beds, with a private bathroom.
We ate at a place called Ahonikenk, enjoying a few stews (lentils and chorizo for me - mmmm!!) and a ravioli for Evan, washed down with a few bottles of Malbec....
Everything was pretty much closed, so we had to wait until morning to prep for our backpacking adventures.
