Day 13 - Depressing Museum, Espacio Memoria y Derechos Humanos

November 26 - Buenos Aires

We left our bags with the hostel and ventured to a museum that we both had wanted to visit, and yet were hesitant. We referred to it as the "depressing museum".  And, you can't avoid history that is tough to swallow.  Ignorance can be bliss, and is still ignorance, nonetheless.  So we went to Espacio Memoria y Derechos Humanos.

In order to get there, we had to take a train - it was a bit further.  But it was super easy!   The museum is an old naval school that is not dedicated as a memorial to the victims during the 1970's that were "disappeared".  (I'll add more on this later as I have a lot of thoughts that might bore many).

When we arrived, we were reminded not to touch the walls, as the building is currently part of evidence for an ongoing trial.

On the way home, we grabbed lunch at what appeared to be one of the only cafes open (Sundays in South America...).  The meal was actually one of the best we'd had.  I had an omelette that was cooked to perfection.  Evan had a double stacked prosciutto and cheese sandwich, and we shared a salad that was arugula, proscuitto, cheese, and dried peppers....ok, it was mostly cheese.  We ended up taking much of the salad as leftovers.

We headed back the hostel.  We had some time to kill before we could check in to our airbnb, so we worked on a few things, then headed to the airbnb.

We settled into the airbnb - it was a nice apartment complex in a neighborhood we hadn't been.  We then quickly turned around to head to sushi night at a friend of a friend's house.  We took the subway to Palermo, which Evan loves.  I loved the wall art of the Subway, and the tiles match the line color (below - blue line).
