Day 20 - Bienvenidos a chile

December 3 - Puerto Natales, Chile

We left at 5 AM to get to El Calafate, enjoying sunset on the road.  We bid farewell to Scott.  From there, we hopped the bus to Puerto Natales.

We arrived at our "economical" airbnb, as we recognized that having our own space and kitchen would be helpful packing up for our trek.  We had to bring laundry in to town and get Chilean pesos, which all seemed like too much on an empty stomach so I made up some of our leftover backpacking food (soup) and we downed the whole thing.

Puerto Natales is an interesting town - stray dogs are everywhere, and these aren't skinny dogs, these are well fed dogs.  There are also quite a few backpackers, picking up final supplies before trekking.

Despite the town being of decent size and crawling with backpackers, the food supplies are super limited.  We struggled to find anything other than basic camping meal essentials: rice, lentils, some dried soup mixes, basically one type of granola bars, limited mixed nuts or dried fruit, plain oatmeal.  It was sufficient for our needs, but we were by no means going to be dining gourmet.
