Day 96 and 97 - Uphill runs and Sunset views

February 19 and 20 - Sucre, Bolivia

Our routine continued.  One night, we had time for a long run before sunset and ran to the Recoleta, a viewpoint and old convent on the edge of town.  There were tons of school kids in their school uniforms, playing soccer.

We had heard that there was a path to walk up to the top of the big hill behind the recoleta.  We run up some steep roads, looking for a trail.  We didn't find it, but kept following the road up.  We ran into a set of rock steps that went in the direction of the highest point.  We (slowly) began the journey up.

At the top, there was a statue of Jesus, with lots of remnants of burnt offerings (and trash).

The run back down was beautiful!!!

We took the trail all the way down, so we could see where we had missed the start.  It turns out the trail starts above a five foot retaining wall alongside someone's house, so it is no wonder we didn't see it.

We arrived back at the recoleta after the sunset, then headed the rest of the way home.
