Day 53 - Lake Day with all of our closest friends
January 7 - Pucon, Chile
Rinse and repeat morning routine. It was a hot, beautiful day, so we picked up empenadas and went to the beach. The empenadas were (a bit greasy but) delicious!...fried empenadas. We got used to baked empenadas, but fried is good as well. Apparently we weren’t the only ones with the idea of the beach. We had heard it was popular, and that was confirmed. We enjoyed our time, then headed to the park to lay in the shade and read.
On the way back, we picked up some provisions for our hike the next morning. We made an entire loaf of bread into sandwiches – half Nutella and jelly, half cheese and avocado. I went out for a quick workout. In the evening, we grilled a giant cut of meat, potatoes and zucchini and ate with our host and his girlfriend. The grilling took awhile, but Evan was a patient grill master. We enjoyed the meal pretty late, then scooted off to bed, as we were to start the next day at 6 AM!
