Day 72 - More Wine

January 26 - Santa Cruz, Santiago

We woke up and went for a run alongside the quiet highways, which were lined with grapes.

When we got back, we took showers then had breakfast at the hotel - huge spread of fresh fruit, bread, fresh juice, and eggs. We also had a lot of fun listening to and speaking with other Chilean and Colombian guests of the hotel.  Evan had a politically-charged conversation with the Chileans.  They left us their contact information if we were ever in their neighborhood.  After breakfast we hung around the hotel lawn and relaxed in the sun.

We then drove to visit to Lapostelle winery, where we had a 12:30 tour reservation.  We got the location messed up and instead of a 7 minutes drive, it was 20 some minutes, so we were late!  It was no big deal - the guide ushered us in and caught us up. Amazing architecture in the winery. Most of the building is cut into the granite mountain which they claim improves the efficiency of their operation by being able to gravity feed the wine instead of using pumps.

After the winery we headed to grocery store in town for picnic supplies.  We then stopped at Estampa winery, which looked uninhabited when we arrived.  We poked around and found a guy to sell us some wine.  We sampled a few first to choose something for our picnic.  We chose a Rose that was quite refreshing, but none were chilled, so he recommended a Viogneer.  It was nice, and we enjoyed our picnic, in solitude.

We headed back to the hotel, Evan napped and Chelsea swam at the pool, loving that they had noodles and grown up kick-boards.

We then freshened up and headed for sunset at the winery, with amazing ceviche and meat and cheese tray.
