Day 70 - Siete Tazas (7 Teacups)

January 24 - Siete Tazas Park, Chile

We packed up and took an Uber to the airport to pick up our rental car.  We got a Peugeot 208 manual
transmission, although practically brand new, someone had already ripped the plastic apron on the bottom of the car and in the wheel well was ripped and shredded in places.

We sat in the car for a minute, our original plan to head to the beach to camp, but made a swift decision to head south, so that our route for the next week with the rental car was more circular rather than back and forth.
On the way south, we ate at an overpriced sandwich restaurant in the small town of San Fernando for lunch. Chelsea had bbq and mine was covered in cream cheese.

The place we were headed is called "Siete Tazas" or seven teacups, describing the seven pools of water connected by waterfalls.  We arrived at the park after a long drive on gravel roads from the main road.  We quickly found the park to be popular for locals.   After paying the entrance fee, we walked along the trails and boardwalks to waterfall vistas, then down to the bottom where people were swimming.
Chelsea waded into the water while I guarded myself sitting on a rock. I don't like crowds in natural places, or anywhere. We continued up the valley and found no camping available in any CONAF sites. Said NO to a lady wanting 9000 pesos per person to camp.

We found a private campsite further up, near Parque Ingles.  The whole area was blanketed in a very fine dust.  Exploring a bit, we found a back access to the river, called "Playa de los hippies".  It was a beautiful swimming spot!

We ate pasta for dinner while writing post cards and drinking a local beer, Escudo, chilled in the nearby creek.
