Day 49 - Getting started in Pucón

January 3 - Pucón, Chile

We woke to a quiet house and made breakfast and coffee, enjoying the peace.

It was raining pretty much all day long.  We learned our tasks from our French and English speaking Chilean host.  For those unfamiliar, we were signed up to do a "workaway", meaning you trade a few hours of work for a free place to stay and food.  We had wanted an excuse to stay hunkered down in a town for awhile, to immerse a bit more in Chilean culture by staying with a local, and take some time to talk to people about the next leg of our trip.  This was all good in theory. Let's see how it actually goes...

We made a lunch of veggies, chicken, and rice with our host, then ventured out to explore the town a bit, despite on and off rain.  For dinner, we enjoyed a homemade Chilean stew (beef, potatoes, carrots, corn) made by a wonderful cook, the hosts girlfriend, with a table full of Spanish speakers.  We hoped for more nights like this, so we could keep practicing Spanish in conversation.
