Day 60 - Ironman and Vikings

January 14 - Pucon, Chile

Pucon was hosting the Ironman triathalon, which transformed the town.  Several of the people staying at the hostel were competing.  Evan and I woke up to catch the beginning of the race - we put on our running shoes and jogged to the start.  We caught the beginning of the swim, and the bike transition for some of the fastest competitors.  The race continued into the early afternoon, which kept the streets full of cheering people.  Loved the vibe!

Evan finished up the wall he was helping build.  In efforts to finish up our food, I made a lunch of rice, simple salad of avocado and onion, and finished up some meat, chicken and beef.  We finished up work then intended to go the Thermas at 4 PM - we showed up at the travel office, towels in hand, swimsuits on. We found out the tour was cancelled, so we slumped back home.  It was still a beautiful day, so we went to the park, Evan read and I did a work out.

Evan was then on a mission to find a way to watch the Vikings game, since we would be around.  We found a place called Park City so obviously there was a gringo element.  The owner was Chilean but lived in the US for five years.  Our server was a young guy with a blond wave of hair and a mustache that was originally from Oregon.  He spoke to us in English and us him, as it felt weird to speak Spanish.  We had a lot of fun watching the game, even though we were the only ones sitting inside. I  had pulled pork and Evan had a burger.  The bartenders cheered for us when the Vikes pulled out the win.
